Thomas Dudley invests £250K to further enhance its award-winning Foundry division

Thomas Dudley’s award-winning foundry division has invested over £250,000 in enhancing its warehousing and logistical capabilities. This latest move is part of a major on-going investment programme which has already equipped Thomas Dudley’s UK foundries, with state-of-the-art manufacturing technology.

The project commenced in May 2015, with the reconfiguration of the existing 35,000m2 on-site warehousing space. This involved the installation of a brand new racking system, underpinned by a cutting-edge barcoding and computerised stock control system. Over 2,000 new bin locations have also been created, to enable over 1,000 tonnes of castings to be securely stored on-site at any given time.

Mick Cramphorn, Foundry Director says: “This has been a challenging project but one that extends Thomas Dudley’s ability to offer end-to-end solutions for cast iron components to 80Kg in weight. Customers can now benefit from having castings manufactured in the most cost-effective batch quantities. These will be safely stored on-site which saves customers having to use their own storage and production space. In addition, customers have the reassurance of knowing that we can deliver castings in any volumes and at times to suit their manufacturing requirements and also within 24 hours from stock. This supports our commitment to working in partnership with customers as a value-adding, strategic engineering partner.”

The project took 12 months in total and was completed in May 2016.  For any other information please visit www.thomasdudleycastings.co.uk
