Thomas Dudley Ltd. has completed a major modernisation of the finishing facility at its Duport Foundry.
The modernisation is the latest development in a programme of improvements that has been implemented since Thomas Dudley acquired the foundry in 2014. The finishing facilities comprise shotblasting, manual and robotic grinding, heat treatment, machining, painting and coating. Following the modernisation all processes are now aligned to streamline casting processing and further enhance quality.
Mick Cramphorn, Foundry Director said: “We’re thrilled that all work has now been completed. It’s a great achievement and we look forward to modernising other areas within the Company to benefit the end customer. In addition, all finishing processes can now be completed seamlessly in one day, to provide reduced production lead-times.”
The Thomas Dudley (Duport) site is located a short distance from the company’s head office based in Dudley, in the West Midlands which specialised in manufacturing grey and ductile iron castings up to 80Kg in weight.
Unlike many other foundries, Thomas Dudley foundry divisions can call upon automated and airset manufacturing facilities to provide a uniquely flexible, UK based production platform. This offers a reliable and extremely cost-effective source of supply, for any given requirement. The modernisation reflects Thomas Dudley’s huge success and impressive growth within its both foundries.
